It’s Wintertime here in the Whitsundays, but does that mean these islands slow down? Certainly not! June is a beautiful time of year to spend in this region, where the waters are always bright blue, the sun never stops shining, and the scenery is nothing short of spectacular. This month, the calendar is packed with upcoming events that are not to be missed. Whether you want to join in the events and races or stand by and cheer on the competitors, you’re sure to find something that will be the highlight of your season. First up is the Hamilton Island Clash of the Paddles from 11-14 June. Over four days, athletes from around the world compete for the glory of the win. This event features water sport activities including paddling, outrigger canoe racing, and events at sea and on land. Join the party on stunning Hamilton Island, or watch the events from the luxury of your yacht charter deck. More information on the competition and other events can be found here. Next, mark your calendar for June 14th and 15th for the Marlin Marine Series. A collaboration between the Whitsunday Sailing Club and Marlin Marine (the area’s largest marine chandlery and rigging specialist) presents the Marlin Marine Series. This event has been extremely popular in recent years, and features a Short and Long Offshore Race on Saturday June 14th, as well as two bay races on Sunday. These thrilling sailing races are great fun for spectators. Heading further into June is the Great Whitehaven Beach Run on Saturday the 20th. If you fancy yourself a talented runner, this could be the perfect event for you to enjoy in the Whitsundays this month. The race takes place on none other than world famous Whitehaven Beach. Because it is a beach run, you even have the option of going barefoot! Whitehaven Beach, normally a serene and blissful scene, will be packed with excitement on race day. You won’t want to miss out on the energised atmosphere. A range of race lengths are offered, including Half Marathon 21.1km, 10.5km, 5km, 1.5km, and 500m. Prizes will be awarded in various categories and for various age ranges. Entries close on June 18th, so get more details and register today. And don’t forget, the brand new Airlie Aqua Park opens this month on June 26th. Located in Airlie Beach, this inflatable water park will offer an amazing time to kids and adults of all ages. Queensland Yacht Charters is running a current special that gets you free tickets to this unique and exciting Whitsundays attraction. We hope you’ll take advantage of these fun and unique events in the Whitsundays this summer. When you charter a private yacht in the islands, you’ll have the freedom to explore the region and enjoy the events right from onboard your vessel. After the competitors and revelers depart, bask in the quiet, peaceful nights as you sit onboard and gaze at the multitude of stars. We can’t wait to see you here!
