Airlie Beach Race Week

Hosted by the Whitsunday Sailing Club, registration begins on the 7th with races held nearly every day thereafter. There are several different racing divisions such as IRC, PHS, cruising, sportsboats, one design and multihulls. After days out on the water, head ashore for an array of events for all ages. There will be delicious food stalls, happy hour at Coral Sea Marina Resort’s Barcelona, and heaps of live entertainment. August is a stunning time of year to visit the tropical Whitsundays and enjoy the mild waters and brilliant sunshine of Airlie Beach and the surrounding area. It’s a beautiful sight to look out across the bay and see the colourful sails dotting the horizon. Whether you’re an experienced competitive sailor looking to join in the races or you’d prefer to join the throngs of enthusiastic onlookers, this is an event that will be sure not to disappoint.

Hamilton Island Race Week

Following right on the heels of Airlie Beach Race Week is a highlight of the yachting year, the 2015 Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, which draws competitors and spectators from across the globe. This event, held from 15-22 August, takes place in the turquoise waters surrounding spectacular Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays. Races are held in a variety of sailing classes throughout the week. Onshore, the schedule is just as exciting, with sophisticated and exciting events including fashion shows, cocktail parties, and beachside yoga.
