Home » My Yacht Charter: What to Pack & What Will I Find On Board?
test
It’s time to get ready. You’ve booked your dream holiday on a yacht charter in the Whitsunday Islands. What a thrill! As you look forward to your trip, you may be wondering what and how much you should pack to bring with you. Today, we break that down for you, so you can understand what is most essential to pack and what you might already find waiting for you on your vessel.

Getting Ready

As you pack for your charter, consider the season of travel. Though it is always lovely weather in the Whitsundays in the cooler months you may wish to bring along a light sweater or jacket. Even in the warmer months, the water can be cool in the mornings. You’ll want to bring all the outdoor necessities including bathers and sun cream. Aside from clothing and special items, most of what you’ll need during your yacht charter you’ll find onboard. Yacht charters depart any day of the year except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. You’ll check in and be briefed at 9.00am. We brief you on practical boat handling, taking in navigation, anchoring, and safety. When you climb aboard your vessel you will find an array of charts, navigation aids, and a cruising guide: “100 Magic Miles of the Great Barrier Reef,” all designed to assist you on your sailing holiday.

Amenities Galore

Our Queensland Yacht Charters vessels are well stocked. A galley kitchen offers all the refrigeration and cooking requirements you need and a BBQ on deck can allow for alfresco cooking. We supply you with safety and navigation gear for your journey, so you can feel confident in the security of your vessel. We also strive to ensure your comfort, so all linens, towels, blankets, and pillows are included. In case of rain, you’ll find wet weather jackets available on the craft. And for your entertainment needs, each vessel is equipped with a CD player, DVD & flat screen TV.

What To Bring Along

Although snorkelling equipment is provided on your yacht charter, we do not include items for other specialty activities. If you want to fish, dive, or participate in other leisure activities, please plan ahead. You can either bring your own gear or hire it from us or a nearby vendor. Thorough fishing packs can be hired from Rods n Hooks for $12.00 per day. There are also other options for additional gear. Be sure to order in advance to be sure the gear is ready when you depart. For more fantastic water fun, consider hiring some of our other add-ons. We can point you to stand up paddleboards, dive equipment, kayaks, sitdown paddleboards, and more. If travelling with young children, lifejackets are not provided by QYC. Queensland Department of Transport does not recognise approved lifejackets for any young children. If you would like to hire these, we recommend Aqua Dive, which can be found nearby at Coral Sea Marina Resort. Don’t forget to bring along your sense of adventure and a camera to capture all your incredible memories. Need to hire a camera? Aqua Dive has GoPros available, so you can catch all the action.

Do I Need to Bring Food?

You are welcome to bring whatever food you desire on your Whitsunday yacht charter. However, why not save yourself time and hassle by having your meals supplied by Whitsunday Provisioning? This local company has been offering delicious meal packages to Whitsunday holiday makers for 30 years. They specialise in pre-designed meal packages in a range of prices, including everything you need for your meals. Special dietary requirements? No problem. Whitsunday Provisioning can work with you to bring you just what you need. You can also choose to order soft and alcoholic beverages or prepared seafood and other platters. For longer charters, Whitsunday Provisioning will meet you in the water to deliver the second half of your charter food supplies. Ready to go? If you have any further questions about preparing for your upcoming yacht charter, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Are you ready to charter a boat? No licence required.

No licence is required for a Yacht Charter in the Whitsundays, unlike other locations worldwide. We offer a brief training session before you head out, for either sailing or powered yachts.
