Welcome to the Maldives, a stunning aquamarine set of islands known for some of the world’s most picturesque ocean scenery. The Maldives are an archipelago consisting of 1,192 islands located southwest of India in the Indian Ocean. Tourism took off in the Maldives in the 1970s, and it is now a popular tourism destination, reputed as a tropical ocean paradise. With crystal clear waters and incredible coral, diving is one of the main draws of the Maldives. There are gorgeous reefs and exciting wrecks to be explored. When you charter a yacht in the Maldives, you’ll have plenty of opportunities for snorkeling and diving amongst stunning, colorful coral and plentiful marine life, easy to spot in the high-visibility seas. The conditions are excellent for sailing in the Maldives. January through April sees very calm waters, and the close proximity of the islands and abundance of deep, sheltered anchorages means you can sail your chartered yacht easily and enjoyably. With a water-based culture, you’ll want to spend the majority of your time engaged in swimming, snorkeling, diving, or surfing, which is growing in popularity. Afterwards, sunbathe on the soft, sandy beaches or relax onboard your yacht, watching the multitude of stars overhead.

SPOTS OF INTEREST
Maldivian culture has influences from Asia, Africa, and Arabia. In 1153, the nation converted to Islam and the population remains majority Sunni Muslim today. You can see the blending of these influences in music, cuisine, folklore, and lifestyle. When you arrive to head out on your Dream Yacht Charter vacation, you’ll start off on the main island of Malé. If you have some time to spare before setting sail, spend an hour or so walking around the small island and check out some of its sites–in particular the architecturally iconic Islamic Centre. While in Maldivian harbors, be sure to keep your eye out for the locally-made Maldivian dhoni, a sailboat that resembles the traditional Arabian sailing vessel the dhow. If you want your next holiday to be under sunny skies atop some of the planet’s most beautiful blue waters, the Maldives are the destination for you. Whether you’d prefer to spend your days diving and snorkeling in the temperate oceans, sunning on the beach, or fishing from the deck of your bareboat vessel, a private yacht charter is the ideal way to explore the many islands of the Maldives and enjoy your vacation at your own pace.
