There is always plenty to see and do in the Whitsundays. For sailing enthusiasts, August is well and truly the most exciting month as the Whitsundays plays host to two of the most exciting yachting events in the country – Airlie Beach Race Week and Hamilton Island Race Week. Whether you’re a competitor or a spectator, these are two Whitsunday events not to be missed.

Airlie Beach Race Week: 9th – 16th August 2018

Airlie Beach Race Week is one of the largest and most exciting yachting regattas on Australia’s sailing calendar. Hosted by the Whitsunday Sailing Club, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the event and organisers are confident of attracting a record number of national and international entries. There will be races on every day of the event except the final day with multiple divisions including:
  • IRC
  • PHS
  • Cruising
  • Sportsboats
  • One-design
  • Multihulls
Registration day begins on the 9th August, so don’t forget to enter the 30th Anniversary Airlie Beach Race Week now. The festival of sailing continues onshore with an array of events for all ages including free live entertainment, food stalls, a festival fun run and wine tastings. Hamilton Island Race Week 18 – 25th August 2018

Immediately following Airlie Beach Race Week is one of the world’s most notable yachting events – Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. Catering to all classes of yachts, there have already been over 100 entries from around the globe for this year’s event, so chances of a record turn out are high. Onshore, the schedule is just as exciting, with a range of sophisticated events including fashion shows, golfing competitions and appearances by celebrity chefs. Many onshore events are ticketed so be sure to book in advance. Highlights include: Racing entries close 5th August so don’t leave it to the last minute – Register for Hamilton Island Race Week Now.
