Everything You Need to Know About Radio Schedules
You are not alone out there! We are in contact with you twice a day during your Charter. Every day we are in contact with you, via our Radio ‘Scheds’. Many of you will remember QYC,QYC,QYC….from your Charter. Kids especially love the radio and love having some input in the daily report to base and being a part of the planning of the Charter.
What are RADIO SCHEDULES?
In the Whitsundays, there are two radio schedules daily for reporting the local weather and making contact with guests to record their daily location, answer questions and make suggestions, if required, regarding itineraries, suitable moorings, or report any issues. This is a Marine Park regulation.
QYC broadcasts at 9:00 am and 3:45 pm daily, and it is important that the charterer maintains radio contact at this time and takes note of the weather and responds with their location. Charterers are advised to stand by for QYC to call your vessel, and to identify the channel you are calling on, either 82, 86 or 74. If you are in range, you can also call our Office (07) 4946 7400 if you have a question or a concern. We are hands-on people here and happy to help you.
All emergency numbers are in our Whitsunday Charter Base Guide, and all of our boats have the numbers clearly displayed.
